Inclusion Aides:

As an Inclusion Aide you work to foster independence, promote social interaction, and work on behavior management goals for the child you support. Attending to the individual’s care, each aide supports the program’s goals and work with NWSRA CTRS staff to successfully include the participant. Aides provide modifications or adaptations to ensure inclusion. The Inclusion Team is available to provide support to aides and participants throughout the program. Companions may work 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3+, based on the participant’s needs.

General Program Assistants:

As a Program Assistant in our General Recreation Programs, you will support participants in weekly group recreation programs such as: sports, social activities, craft projects, swimming, cooking and community outings. Program Assistants work on behavior management goals, direct supervision, engagement skills and helping with activities of daily living such as bathrooming, eating, and personal hygiene.

PURSUIT Community Adult Day Program Assistants:

As an Adult Day Program Assistant, you are responsible to assist in the development and implementation of programming that promotes client independence and acquisition of functional skills.  Provide active participation and hands on assistance to clients during recreational activities (cooking, community outings, arts and crafts, etc.).

Intern/Fieldwork Students:
 

Intern and fieldwork students are hired for a program season, Please Submit your application at least one month prior to the beginning of the following program seasons.

 

Winter Season - January thru March

Spring Season – April thru May

Summer Season – June Thru August

Fall Season – September thru November

 

NWSRA's internships offer diverse, hands-on projects that meet NCTRC requirements. All Interns and Field work Students are supervised by a Full-Time Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist – CTRS.  Your 12-15 week internship/fieldwork experience may include:

  • Programming and Leadership

  • Assessment

  • Documentation and Evaluation

  • Written Reports

  • Professional Meetings

  • Seminars, Workshops and In-services

  • Staff Orientations

Program Volunteers:

As a Program Volunteer you provide guidance, socialization, and support to participants with disabilities in recreational programs.

As a Full-Time Recreation Specialist, you are required to plan, develop, monitor and coordinate programs of all types including weekly recreation programs, social clubs, special events, Leisure Education, school break camps, overnight trips, Lightning Athletics and cooperative programs. Prepare and implement behavior management strategies, when necessary, to ensure safe program involvement while assessing and recommending appropriate goals and programs for individual with disabilities.
